UP coming events

Freaky Friday – Free Halloween creative design event on Friday 27th October 2017 at the University of Portsmouth in association with The Maker’s Guild. This event is now full.

Night Sky Live! – Free astronomy event on Saturday 25th November 2017 at Winchester Science Centre (transport provided from the University of Portsmouth). This event – going with UP for Uni – is now full. If you want to attend the festival independently, you can still book tickets from Winchester Science Centre (please note their charges and tickets prices will apply).

UP for Uni events are free and for secondary school age participants. They usually last for a day (or part of a day) and take place out of school time e.g. during school holidays, on a weekend or after school. Our events are normally held at the University of Portsmouth or nearby locations, although we sometimes organise trips further afield and occasionally run other special projects. Parents or carers do not usually participate in events.

When you sign up to an event, a consent form will be emailed to your parents. Please ask them to complete it as soon as possible so that we can confirm your place. Confirmation of your place and all the details are usually sent out at least a week before each event.

We try to include as many participants as possible but sometimes space and numbers are limited. If an event is oversubscribed we will give priority to older participants (as younger ones have a greater chance of attending future workshops), those who attend a non fee-paying school in Portsmouth, or who live in an area with low participation in higher education*.

If you have any questions, please get in touch through our contact page, email or call 023 9284 6214.

*You can use this tool to check higher education participation in your area.

Please note: We also work with local teachers and offer lots of opportunities for schools and colleges to visit the University of Portsmouth. If you would like more information, please go to:

Hi Emma, thanks for your comment! The Cheer Off is run by our colleagues in UP for Sport and I’m sure they’ll be chuffed to hear that. They do some great stuff and you can find out more information about them here:

My son has just completed the Up for Uni days and absolutely loved them. After the first day, he couldn’t wait to go back for the remaining 2. Thanks so much to everyone involved!
